Our Story

We both grew up in the same small town in Michigan where we attended the same high school. Thankfully, our paths crossed again a few years later while Lisa was in college studying interior design and Leon had already entered the workforce as an executive recruiter.  We began dating and soon discovered that we had found a best friend and soulmate in each other.  We married and have been living out our dreams ever since.  Leon realized his passion to become a pilot and began his training, which brought us to Phoenix, Arizona.  From the beginning our relationship has been built on love, trust, honesty, and laughter.  The only part missing from our happy ending was having children to share our lives with.

After years of trying, we discovered that we were unable to conceive a child and that we'd have to build our family some other way.  We have always been open to the idea of adoption and realize now that this was God's plan for us all along.  We became parents in February of 2011 through the blessing of adoption.  Lila has brought more love and joy into our home than we could have ever imagined and we feel incredibly blessed to be her parents.  We are still in awe at the selflessness and courage of her birthmother and have so much love and respect for her.  We love Lila so much and we can't wait to add another child to our little family.

We believe that it is important for families to share meals and spend quality time together everyday.  We love playing with Lila outside, taking family walks, traveling to new places, hiking nearby trails, or just hanging out at home watching movies together.  We have many family traditions and we look forward to sharing them with our children.  Some of our favorite traditions are pancake Sundays, a pumpkin patch visit in the Fall, and unwrapping new pajamas on Christmas Eve.  We like to have fun and laugh and will ensure that our children do the same as they pursue their interests and hobbies.

We are so excited to adopt again!  Becoming parents has been the greatest adventure of our lives and we are so happy that Lila will have siblings that she can share the common thread of adoption with.  Our families have instilled in us a strong set of values that has given us the basis for providing a very stable, loving home.  As college graduates, we know the importance of education to a child's success in life and will encourage our children to pursue their hopes and dreams, whatever they may be.  Most of all, they will be loved and hear the words "I love you" everyday.
